_____If you are referring to C.Fn-7 (unless the firmware in my
camera is
buggy), no setting will disable the AF-Assist that occurs while
the camera
is hunting in AF. I just tested this on my Elan7 thinking I could
disable
that crazy thing once and for all._____
Not that I can afford it, but it is kind of nice to really
*not* want the 7 when I have the IIE- (as opposed to the usual
sour grapes, as 'I don't want it because;
-That 'all black' look will get lost in the bottom of my black
gadget bag.
-Who needs 1/8000 of a second, anyway? Adds weighty 1/8000 of a
gram to camera bulk, making it impossible to handhold now.
-Too complicated now, all those CF's.
-I'd only use the new controls 10-12 times a day, never be able to
remember them.
-Who wants better pictures, anyway?
...etc.
___Ah well, manual focus without external flash will have to do___
Does AF assist on external flash still only work with center
focusing point selected manually? That is the only real 'bug'
I've found with the IIE.
