FWIW, the command dial on the EOS 5 I bought in the fall of 1999 broke after
only 26 rolls of 36-exposure film. I always made sure to press the lock-release
button every time I turned the dial. With the $100+ repair cost, the camera
ended up costing over US$600--a couple hundred more gets you an EOS 3.
