I had the 28-135 only for a few months and not at the same time as the
80-200/2.8 which makes a comparison more difficult. Anyways, the 80-200/2.8
does focus considerable faster then the 28-135. As a matter of fact I was
amazed how fast it is considering that it does not have an USM motor but an
ARC. But then again there are big differences between different USM motors.
So for instance my 70-200/2.8L focuses even a bit faster then the 80-200.
All in all the 80-200 is a great lense. About the only drawback it has is
that it cannot be used with a Canon converter, has no IS, and focuses a bit
slower then the 70-200/2.8 which probably only matters for sports (which I
am not shooting).
