Perhaps I got messed up, but if yuo meant NTFS by NFS file system - I have no problems of running NikonScan 3.1.2 (no upgraded to ver. 4) for my LS-40 for about 2 years (last one under Win XP as NTFS) without a fuss, neither I heard about such kind of issue at all.
