Hi Grant,

Until very recently I owned both an EOS D60 and EOS 1D, I also occasionally
shoot with an EOS 10D as a secondary body and rent an EOS 1DS. Since I
bought and learned the EOS 1D the EOS D60 was for the most part assigned to
the closet as a paperweight. The D60 can produce incredible images in a
studio or in good light but the D60's AF is not really usable under all the
conditions I needed it to be.

When comparing the EOS 1D to the EOS D60 and EOS 10D bodies there's maybe a
5%-10% increase in resolution on larger prints but this has turned out to be
unimportant due to the MUCH better noise and dynamic range characteristics
of the 1D in the real world. With good exposure and reasonably careful post
capture processing, most owners of 1D, D60 and 10D bodies can't tell the
difference on paper until you get up to larger prints.

BUT, between the 1D and D60 and even the newish 10D there is an obvious and
HUGE difference in AF speed and accuracy under almost any light conditions
that you can capture an image by. Additionally the build, handling and
responsiveness of the EOS 1D is clearly MUCH better than the D60 and to a
lesser degree the newer 10D. Of course the 1D is a larger, heavier camera
body and a 1D cannot show you its best without the best and fastest lenses.
This is due to the AF system used in all of the Canon EOS 1 pro bodies, they
need f/2.8 or faster lenses to enable the faster high precision cross type
AF sensors.

IMO, you should consider selling the D60 and buying an EOS 1D, you won't
regret it based on image quality and you will LOVE the responsive feel of
the body in operation and in the field!

Cheers/Chip
