I intend to use it for macro shots and some night photography.
Then the TC will be just the ticket. I just spent the better part of the night shooting the aurora using the TC remote. Three of the pics are up at http://www.pbase.com/santa/aurora_dec_18_2004 . No high drama but it was a nice display once it got going. (the TC is the timer one, I think.. :) )
