Yea, I had MetaStock v9.  Transferred it over from my XP 32 bit to
Win7 64bit.  The only drawback is that I could not use Help to
search for an answer to my query.  As MetaStock v9 was written for 32
bit version.  So I switch over to MetaStock v11 rather than v12.  I
don't see much difference between v9 & v11.

I stayed away from v12 because it would not allow me to keep my own
local data.

PS: How do you export / import the .dta files etc etc.  I certainly
would like to be able to carry over my favourites.  I got around this
problem by using Windows to "copy & paste".  I copied my metastock
data in C drive from the XP & pasted it in the MetaStock data folder
in C drive on the new computer after installing MetaStock.  That
carried over any comments & observations I had recorded on any
security.

BTW, is there any MetaStock user group in Sydney?   I would like to
learn more about using MetaStock & in particular how to write my own
exploration program.

        Regards,

        Edgarki

computer

i use 9.1 version on my w 7 64 bit, and no problem. i just
installled with cd.   Better to export your .dta files, then import
them, rather than copy over.

I currently have my Metastock 10.1c EOD installed on my XP (32 bit)
computer. I am moving to a Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) computer. Reuters
Datalink is my data provider.

Before I do the move, I have several questions:

1. Will 10.1c EOD run on Windows 7 64 bit?
2. I have my original CD. Should I just use that to do the
installation, or is there a better way?
3. I want to make sure that all of indicators, explorations, experts,
favorites, etc. get copied to the new computer. My Ver 10 manual says
if I am updating [which I am not] I should copy MS10FORM.DTA,
MS10PREF.DTA, MS10EXPL.DTA or MS10EXPT.DTA AND ST10DATA.MDB.
 4. I have both MS10EXPL.DTA and MS10EXPT.DTA on my XP. EXPL is a much
larger file, but EXPT was updated much more recently. Should I copy
over both of them?
5. I don't have a MS10PREF.DTA on my XP. Why is that?
 6. Are there other files that I need to copy over?
7. Should I do the install first, and then copy over the files, or
vice versa?

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Harry
