GA is perceived as being a politically weak group.

And it isn't just pure small numbers that is the issue,
it is the fact that GA pilots aren't willing to put their
votes on the line for their avocation.

The Bush administration believes that it will continue
to garner the votes of the (mostly conservative) GA
pilot population no matter what they do to that
population with TFRs and the like.

And that population has done precious little to
change that view.

GA lacks the resolve that the NRA or the Pro-Choicers
have to say, as a body, 'No matter how we may like
you on other things, this issue is a deal-breaker as to
my vote, and if you mess with my right to fly I will
do my best to VOTE YOU OUT. And don't think
that because your opponent agrees with you on
this subject it will help. I will still VOTE YOU OUT.'
And I will continue to VOTE OUT alternating parties
until one decides they want me to help them stay
IN.'

There is no organized 'do something about the little
airplanes' organization. There is an organized EAA
and AOPA, and both those memberships need to
be willing to let their executive boards recommend
a vote against a candidate who may otherwise be
acceptable to them personally, for the good of the
GA.
