I can see the purpose to these new rules. It is so that terrorists have to get their flight training in any other country before hijacking a plane in the US. I am sure the pilot of the hijacked pane will ask the hijacker to show him a valid pilot license before letting him take the controls... I have flown for over 25 years in the US and to this day, nobody has ever asked to see my license.
