I soloed a C-152, N757UW, after 3.48 hours of dual, in 1978. My instructor tried to send me to the examiner to get my PVT with about 38 hours.... I tried to tell him I needed 40... I did... Sgt. In 1973 I soloed a Bird Dog with 4 hours in the log books.... but I had a number of orientation flights.... and took ground school twice..... Civil Air Patrol has changed over the years.... It was in a PA11 supercub. Four hours was quite uncommon in 1967 as a minimum of 15 hours was required by ICAO rules. After all these years the cub and I are both still airworthy, though the plane looked a lot better than I do after a restoration in 2002. Does everyone remember the tail number of the plane they first soloed in?
