Hey Beach:
I've owned a couple of Corvairs over the years, I had a 1964 Spyder
Convertible in 1964 in Florida, I couldn't keep the turbo from catching on
fire, so I traded it for a Chevy Impala SS. Then about 1970 I won another
Corvair from a guy in a certain sporting event. I kept this one for about
two years. It was also a collapsible. I was managing a small radio station
at the time and we used it in a lot of parades. That was 35 years ago. Now
I'm looking again. They are still selling well. Most of the corvair drive
trains were used in Rose Parade floats, and as auxiliary power plants.

I had 5 Corvairs in the early 70s and one powerplant in particular
motorized three different bodies. When my wife finally killed it, the
engine had 115,000 miles on it and was still going strongly. I always
fantasized about having a Corvair powered aircraft, maybe twin Corvairs,
but it turned out to have a Continental. Whatever. For its output I'd
guess the Corvair to be a wee bit heavy, but I have no doubts about their
capabilities. Sorry for the emotional gush based on road experience, but
I had to speak up for my dear departed Corvairs. Maybe someday I'll have
another Corvair car for nice days.
