The only other app like it I've ever heard of is Apple's Automator (which, except for very basic tasks, isn't all that great). I haven't actuly looked for any though. If you know of any others (past or present) I'd be very interested. It would also be very helpful.

Another app you could probably take a look at is the Quartz Composer

Thanks!

(if you don't take the more procedural/sequential approach as in Automator, as opposed to the many objects bound together as in a graph)

The 'many objects bound together as in a graph' is similar to what I originally intended and would still prefer if it can be made simple enough for an average user.

If we can find a way to keep the graph simple and neat even with more complicated workflows (with quite a few objects and connections) that would be great.

Whatever we come up with in the end, however, needs to be object oriented for better integration with the Etoile project. I don't want to make 'just another visual programming language'. The purpose of this app is to make project automation simple for end users.

Here is a Wikipedia article which may be helpful in future:

One nice feature it has that I haven't seen you propose (perhaps it is so intrinsic to the system that no mention to this is necessary?) is the combination and reutilization of many different objects in a group (macro patch) which would be something cool to have.

Btw, I've meant to volunteer to help you in this, so count me in if you need an extra hand :).

The best help (for now) would be to share your thoughts (if they are pertinent).
