I'm generally in the "Want" camp and with cruise control I can focus
more on the traffic and less on maintaining the correct speed(s).

I have though about this and think that I would want a Power Control
mode where the maximum and minimum speeds can be programmed in. Not
the absolute speed but the relative speeds like no more than +5 or
-10. The power would be kept at the set value until the speed
increased to the max or decreased to the min value at which point it
would be adjusted accordingly. It might take a little programming to
not get oscillations in speed but it should work equally well in an
ICE or EV.
