Guess it depends on the area.  We had a T intersection that frequenly had Left 
turning cars (the main flow) backed up WAY beyond the left turn lane.
They put in a traffic circle, and now there is almost never any wait at all.
Same with a place where a minor street crossed a 2 lane highway.  Any time 
someone needed to turn left onto the minor street caused a huge backeup.  Now 
it all flows smoothly.
