Hello EVDLrs I want to thank the other contributors over the years who shared advice that led to something of a save for me.
A member of my household took my Kona to work, about 15 miles, and then realized a need to travel a further 15 miles. Unfortunately, best practices were not followed (of starting every day with a full charge, or planning a little bit, or turning off the cabin heater, or charging halfway home, before it is needed, or learning hypermiling techniques). The car had stopped about 1.5 miles from home. By the time I arrived, it had sat about an hour. I got another 1/2 mile out of it before it stopped - at a legal parking spot :-) A few people on the list (including the late Bob Rice) had described that an EV battery can sit and the energy can work its way from the "back" of the battery to the "front." I left the car overnight.... I had a medical procedure. I returned 18 hours later. Part one was on a cold night. Part two was on a warmer day. I had no trouble driving the last mile in turtle mode, even getting some momentum, while watching for opportunities to slow down to miss the red lights. When I got it home to the OpenEVSE, it was at 3%. The car seems to be well now at 257 miles of range. The advice from this list saved me needing a tow (and trying to get a tow operator to put the car in forwards :-) (I have other options, but this one worked well :-) and tomorrow, EV charging school is in session :-) Seth -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
