My long-time strategy is to keep the SOC between 20% and 80%. Don't drive to go below 20%, and don't charge above 80% unless I expect to take a longer-than-usual trip.
I've always used my EVs for daily commuting, which had a predictable range requirement. I didn't charge every day as long as the SOC was high enough to make the next day's commute without going below 20%. That meant I only charged once or twice a week. This strategy was good enough to get 5-7 years life on my old lead-acid packs; even more on today's lithium packs. Our 2013 Prius with 65k miles still has about 80% of its original range. -- Excellence does not require perfection. -- Henry James But it *does* require attention to detail! -- Lee Hart -- Lee A.
