Ed covered the POP issue..... On your connection to the server issues, some doing via IP, some via smb.....welcome to my world. It stinks. I can give you some hints, I am fighting the same issues perhaps we can find something together. It isn't AD/Authentication, imho. Mac to Windows Server is a straight challenge response. The issue is name resolution from what I see, but darned if I can find the problem. Got DNS on the same switch as the Macs, tried host files on the Macs....it moves from Mac to Mac.....I stopped looking at it and just educated the 10 Mac users on the different ways to connect and told them in the event of a failure one of the other methods would work.
We have had the best luck with command K and ip addresses. I gave they users a doc that mapped the IP to server names to help them out. -----Original Message----- From: On Behalf Of Ed Crowley [MVP] Subject: RE: Macs, Microsoft Entourage and SBS2003 Entourage is a POP or IMAP client. If you're using POP, then there is no way for Entourage to connect to the Sent Items folder of the mailbox due to the limitations of the protocol. POP simply pulls mail from the Inbox. All Macs are running Mac OSX 10.3.4 and Office v.X Some questions: When sending mail via Entourage, the mail goes to the POP3 outbox, not the outbox in the Exchange account. Is this normal? Authentication issues to the server are varied. Some users can authenticate using Apple+K, entering the IP address of the server, and entering user name and password. But a couple of users cannot, they must either use smb://ipaddress, or through Network/DomainName/ServerName to connect. I am pretty sure this is an Active Directory/Authentication issue. I appreciate everyones assistance.
