I have ONE user who is having problems logging into his Outlook. He has
accounts in two different NT4 domains, but receives his email on the account
that is in the domain I admin. Every time he tries to log into his Outlook,
it gives him the error "the attempt to log onto the Exchange server failed"
but no other message.
I've deleted his email account and recreated it with a different name and
associated it with his account in the domain I admin. Same error. I
associated it with his primary account in the domain I do NOT admin, same
error. I deleted his account in the domain I admin and created a new
username and password, and associated his email account with the new domain
account, same error.
He *is* able to log into OWA, however. I've restarted the Exchange services,
I've refreshed the Netbios cache on both his workstation and the email
server, to no effect. Frankly, I'm out of ideas here... About the only thing
left I can think of is to reinstall Outlook and see if that fixes things. I
*know* it's not mailbox size since his mailbox is VERY small (less than 5
megs.)
He said this just started happening Friday. I checked for LMHOSTS files and
he doesn't have one. Any ideas?
Thanks
John
