I apologize, Chris. Your thoughts are VERY welcome, and I believe I said
that. It wasn't you who implied that I was being negligent just for asking
questions to help me resolve a planning problem. It was I who made the
mistake. I misfired. Again, I apologize.

I'm sorry, I assumed when you asked if anyone had any other thoughts you
wanted them. I shan't make that mistake again.

That's _useful_ advice, thanks. The warranty angle is already
covered,
and I will look into your continuity solution.
I thought that planning and researching recovery issues was sorta, kinda
like doing proper preparation. But what do I know?

Buy a premium warranty (4 hour onsite from Dell or HP for example) and
recovery services from a company like Sungard or a continuity solution
from a company like... well, mine.

RE: 07 recovery server
Thanks, Chris. That puts me in a very precarious position. If the
machine
goes south, I would be without email until I could beg, borrow, or
steal
another 64 bit monster, and that could be days and days.
Seems to me that this is a serious problem for small shops, and a
discouragement to upgrading. I hope that we and/or MS and/or third
parties
can come up with a solution.
One solution that occurs to me is to do an Exmerge of all mailboxes
every
day, which could presumably be restored to an 03 server. But that is
so
cumbersome that it's hardly practical. Any other thoughts?
