You could make him wait for the Toshiba TG01 to come out. Same size better
resolution screen vs. the Iphone backed by Windows Mobile phone.

Modeled by some disgusting hands http://www.hedonists.ca/2009/02/04/hands I had
to highlight a picture where you could see the finger nails. Link to a better

I will agree with everyone else that EAS implementation is very subpar on the
iPhone. The same thing happened in my company - an exec just had to have it...
I gave him a list of Exchange items that were not supported, and he was fine
with it.

I will note, as per you original question, that the iPhone handles certificates
VERY well. I don't use a trusted certificate, which is always a headache on
WinMob devices, but the iPhone accepted the untrusted cert just fine, without
warning.

I wouldn't proceed with EAS without a cert.

Hope that helps.

Sam

Whoah! Disable Flame mode :)

Yes the Iphone is not a perfect corporate device but it depends on what the
user is accustomed to. If you're a heavy blackberry user then yes there's
plenty of shortcomings that you will find, but if all you need is mail and
calendar the iphone is a superb device, over all as PDA / Phone / Personal
Device the Iphone far excels compared to any other device I've had. But it all
depends on your needs.

Now as long as you have a working OWA on the outside then setting up ActiveSync
it's a cinch, there's quite a few Docs out there, do some Google queries. It
took us about 20 minutes to get ourselves up and running. Iphone will Only Sync
Mail, Calendar and Contacts and you can only have 1 Exchange Sync setup. Also
it replaces any local contacts you have on it and it as of now cannot originate
meeting requests.

The debate will rage for eons, but the iPhone is NOT suitable for a corporate
environment. Yes, it works. However, your CEO better be prepared for the fact
it's nothing more than a phone with a crappy EAS implementation.

To answer your question, though, you can turn SSL off on the device. Whether
you need SSL on the server or not is a different question!

We have Exchange 2003 and our CEO is getting an iPhone. Do I need an SSL
Certificate to use Active Sync? I understand that there are some connectivity
issues using an iPhone with Exchange, but are there any issues that can't be
overcome, or that I should be aware of that could be a major pain?

Thanks,
