Dear All,

To clarify :

The "*AUTOMOBILE PASSPORT*" is held as collateral for the duration of the
Loan not your personal passport - much like when you take a mortgage the
bank will hold the deed to your property.

In Russia they refer to the title or deed in respect to automobiles as the
"Vehicle Passport"

It may have changed but 3 years ago - Raiffeisen Bank permitted foreign
nationals to take out a 3 year "New Car" automotive loan [ which is what I
obtained in USD] They also permit early pay-off without penalty after 6
months.

Raiffeisen Bank will issue you a document approving your credit for 90 days.
Permitting you time to search and find your car. They will as well provide
you with a list of approved dealers and insurance companies [ you can find
this list on their web site]

Once you take possession of your car you will need to register it and get
your technical passport [good for 3 years "this requires a medical, the
purchase of a fire extinguisher / first aid kit / road marker" - The medical
certificate proving you are normal enough to own and drive a car - cost
1000p done in 2 hours - the other items either come with your car or can be
purchased for under a few thousand roubles] The first time around the
process will take 2 trips after that - it will be a yearly event [ for
people holding work permits - it co-insides with your work visa and
registration]

*As a side note* I just completed this process : It took 2 hours from start
to finish. Arrived at 11:55 and left at 13:55 :)

To all expat's about to complete this process yourselves: Their New Address
is:

20 Lobnenskaya Street - crosses Dmitrovskoe Shosse [from the centre turn
left it is almost at the end of this road] - close to MKAD

*You are required to submit*:
Automotive Passport [original plus copy ]
Current registration [ original plus copy ]
Vehicle registration card [plastic card]
Insurance Policy [Osaga]
Your Passport

There is no longer a need to travel to the bank to pay the registration fee
- it can be done via a payment kiosk right on premises. [ Commission fee 20%
- well worth it]
