For one of my work systems, I have lost (let's say 'misplaced')
the bootup and rescue floppies. This is a dual NT-Linux6.1 with
Linux on hdb1 and no /boot partition. I have another similar
system except that it has a /boot and root=/dev/hdb2 instead
of root=/dev/hdb1 that I need.

I tried modifying the lilo.conf to point to hdb1 and hoped that
it would allow me to boot up. Lilo does prompt me for linux and
win (and win works). Linux says "loading linux...." and then
hangs there. I use the NT loader but I never put a linux image
(C:\boot.lnx). Without this, even VMware won't work for booting
an existing partition (without the boot loader).

What are my best/easiest options for recovery ?
   - more changes required to my floppy attempt above.
   - somehow create another bootup floppy from the CD-ROM.
(and then I assume I should be able to modify the config)
   - use Explo2fs win program to get files and copy /boot files
      and /etc/lilo.conf to floppy.
   - re-install 6.1 as update but only create bootup floppy
   - ... any other ways ?

Thanks... Dan.
