[expert] linuxconf problem

I have upgraded my linuxconf to the latest version. I used to be able to run
it from my ssh connection, but now I get the following error:
[root /home/brian] linuxconf
Error message from remadmin :Gdk-ERROR **: X connection to
mrroboto.mindspring.com:10.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
It looks like it want to be run in X. 
Does the newer version not support console?
