Have you tried "man grep"?

The man page tells you what grep is, and how to use it.

A search for "grep: on www.google.com yields the following link:
http://www.pegasus.rutgers.edu/~elflord/unix/grep.html

Doing a little legwork on your own, such as using an internet search engine
or reading the man pages will get you an answer fare more quickly than
asking a mail list.
