http://www.linuxhardware.org/search.pl?topic=motherboardreviews often has decent reviews. I'd also suggest consulting AMD's recommended list at http://www.amd.com/us-en/ based on the intended processor and ram to be used. Also consult their recommended power supply list, but pay more attention to model numbers than brand names. ie, the same power supply (model#) is often sold under several different brand names. Actually that Amptron board was really a PCChips mobo, very low end. PCChips sells under about 20 different brand names. I've had better experience with Soyo, than Aopen or Tyan. MOF, I'd rank 'em in just that order. But what's best usually changes fairly rapidly. I built a 1.4 Tbird system on a Soyo k7vta pro about six months ago. It's been flawless. It has onboard AC97 sound, which much to my surprise works very well with Mandrake 8.0 and 8.1, sounds great. It's gettin real hard to find a decent board anymore without integrated sound. I would avoid any Abit mobo. -- ____Tom Brinkman _________________ South Texas, USA_____ It says it's for dogs, but she can't read. -- Homer Simpson Simpson's Roasting on an Open Fire
