Having installed LM 7.2 on my Toshiba Sat pro 430 cds, I was looking forward to getting 8.1 installed. However, it dies, no matter what I try. No matter which kernel image I try (on both cds, I think), and even trying 'expert' and 'expert text', I get to the second stage install, and it dies with the following text on tty1: in second stage install install exited abnormally :-( sending termination signals...done sending kill signals...done <etc> on tty2 we see the normal startup of the shell (msh), with a prompt (which is dead, of course) on tty3 we see: ...stuff... * stage1: disconnecting life support systems * second stage install running (DrakX v1.598 built Tue Sep 25 11:38:26 2001) * running: /usr/bin/insmod_ 2> /dev/tty5 -f /tmp/af_packet.o on tty4 we see: ...stuff... <6>SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 <7>ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A and on tty5 we see absolutely nothing. This is a Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDS with 32meg ram, 6 gig hard drive, and a nifty keeno docking station. Does anyone have any clue??? Thanks! rc (same as over at slb.com, actually :-)
