This is the stat on my WD drive (10gig)
/dev/hda:
 Timing buffer-cache reads:   128 MB in  1.83 seconds = 69.95 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  64 MB in  3.61 seconds = 17.73 MB/sec
