Gearing will make a difference as will tires. What tires did you run on? R25A or R33? Skinny or wide front tires? A road race setup is different from a solo setup, and it will be slower. How new are your tires cause I know his tires were pretty new.

Also, experience in these cars does make a difference. That car has been a work in progress for 4 plus years now and it is very fast and he runs every chance he gets. It was 2nd at nationals last year with his co-driver, Rick, behind the wheel. Greg has been pushing me and even beaten me a few times up here in Dallas and I've done pretty well over the years at Nationals and other events. So he is a good driver. (Just don't tell him I said that. :-)

Greg did beat the BM's and CM's, but not by much. How was the course? Tight, slow?

All of this adds up.

went to an national auto cross this past weekend. Was beat by 8 seconds on a 50 second course. Was told that the difference was gearing that my car was geared for road racing not for auto cross. What gear ratio should i be using for auto cross 5 to 1 , 6 to 1? can these engines handle these gears. just so you know he also beat the B mod guys by 3 seconds and the formula ford and lotus guys by 4 seconds. did want anyone to think I was just a slow poke.....
