Tom, exactly right, it's not the gas per say, but the moisture content. Even with the nitro, there's different grades. From what I was told by the welding gas supplier, there's a medical grade that's the most pure and moisture free. Chris R.

However, if you were to use compressed air and run it through an air dryer (like some of the motorsports suppliers manufacture)the results would be virtually the same.
