Do you know what alloy the machinist is planning to use for your axle?
They told me only that they were using "Superior Shaft." It sounded to me like some brand name product that "machine shop" people know about. All the guys that were involved in the discussion agreed that that is what I needed. Whatever it is, I know for certain it isn't cold rolled steel, and that it is a better product, because they seemed pretty certain that I wouldn't bend it. Maybe I'll surprise them. 8-)
