OP may have two MTAs installed - postfix and sendmail. I would strongly
advise to remove sendmail; postfix comes with its own 'sendmail' command
which mimics sendmail's command line behaviour. Or, if you prefer, remove
postfix, but running both is likely to cause problems. Note that 'mail' and
'mailx' are MUAs (possibly the same one under the hood) which process the
mail and send it on to a MTA.
