I have to agree, Raunchy. Beautifully said. Not an easy
person to understand; I'm still trying to figure him out.

I once told him that from everything we'd heard about his
past, we'd have expected him to be some kind of raving
lunatic. Instead we got this probing intelligence, some
brilliant writing, a devastating sense of irony larded
with the sharpest wit, a charming sense of humor about
himself as well as others, flashes of penetrating
intuition, a thirst to explore ideas--some of which,
granted, were pretty strange!--altogether an exhilarating
education in direct engagement and boundary-pushing.

If only we could have been wise enough to take better
advantage of what he had to offer.
