A lot of people thought the CW's "The Messengers" was going to go down this road but they were surprised with episode 2 where they reveal that the "events" referenced in the Bible are "symbolic".

And I forgot to mention the "product placement!" There are
scenes in a mall and they made sure the Starbucks, Best Buy and
another of other outlets are clearly displayed. Then outside
Macy's and Sears. The film is just so bizarre I just cracked up
laughing several times. Yup, the acting is bad and there are a
number actors you see regularly see in other films. And I bet
they aren't there because of their religious beliefs any more
than the actors who were in the "Atlas Shrugged" jokes are
libertarians. They're there for the money too

Do you get to see heaven and hell at any point. Does Nic get saved?

No heaven are hell are harmed in this film. And Cloe saves the
day! Kind of a spoiler but then you'll want to see how. The
    whole scenario gets really preposterous.

How popular is the "left behind" idea in the US really?

I don't know but years ago Judy couldn't believe I had never heard
of the books. A lot of people will watch the movies because they
are so bad and stupid. I almost turned it off after 10 minutes
but decided to see where they took it and how bad it was going to be.

Have you seen HBO's take on this called "The Leftovers"? It was
really weird and there is a second season this year.

No, as I say we don't get any of these sort of ultra-Christian
beliefs over here, it's still a bit more like tea on the vicarage
lawn. The most radical any church here gets is a guitar and a bit
of clapping in the service. My next door neighbour belongs to one
but he doesn't proselytise so I don't know what his beliefs are,
which is a shame as I'd like to know the current state of English
    dreaming.

LOL, he asked me what I did for a living when we first met and I
told him I worked for the TMO and he looked like I'd slapped him
he was so shocked but he didn't say anything, which is a shame as
I'm as up for philosophocal debate with him as I was with the TM
    teachers.

Well I just had to see what the hell Nicolas Cage was doing with
    the
movie "Left Behind." He really must have enjoyed making it. It's so
bad that it has one star on Netflix. But it's also so bad that it's
like a comedy, almost like the "Airplane" of the "left behind"
apocalypse movies (of which there are many). Talk about
    "Christians"
not understanding analogs, they're far worse than any "Hindus." It
really deserves a Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment.

So if you need a good laugh here's the trailer:

Wow, how much bad acting can you pack into a single trailer?

This "left behind" thing is a real cultural phenomenon over
there isn't it? Bizarre as we never hear of it over here. I
wouldn't even be surprised if this doesn't even go on release
here. Not least because it looks really dreadful...
