Subject: Re: ot: need websites for cats w/ kidney failure

Barbara,

Here is a Great site, I joined this past summer for my CRF cat.  I can never remember the home page, but the e-mail address is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (perhaps the webpage is www.caring-for-crf-felines.com  (?)

They have dispelled many myths about the disease and I have reaped some wonderful advice both about standard treatments and homopathic.  They will tell you everything you need to know about sub-q. s - how much, when, and why, as well as how the prescription foods (low phosphorous and low protein) are actually not as good as better quality low phos. high protien  foods found over the counter.

While most cats are not diagnosed until their kidneys are at 75% failure or more....many of the folks on this site have maintained their cats at a quality life level for 5+ years.

Have her contact the site they are all really caring people who are willing to help!

Good luck.

The vet for my sister's maine coon mix feels her cat is in kidney failure.
he suggested hydrating the cat for 48 hours at office to see if can
jumpstart him. ($600) and then maybe maybe she can learn to do it at home.
(by herself I doubt it and the other problem is she travels frequently for
her job). I dont' know his age(she lives a few states away from me but would
imagine less than 10?) he was a rescue and she's had him several years. does
anyone know some good websites or yahoo group for this? thank you in
advance.
