Thank you all… I sent all the links on.  There are a handful of volunteers in the New Orleans area and on the MS coast who try very hard to feed/water strays that they know were previously owned.  As people come back, they are amazed to find their cats alive!  Every day, the feeders try to look & trap cats that escaped and whose owners are looking for.  Just yesterday they got one cat that everyone had thought had died!  The stray population is really getting pretty overwhelming—kitten season, and all…

 

Anyway, vetting is a big problem and most of the feeders, particularly in MS, take that on their own so any possible help is always helpful…

 

As for the cat in question—well, poor Rusty was not doing well late last night.  He wasn’t eating and though he seemed fairly comfortable and purring away, we know that for a diabetic cat, not eating is not good…
