I'll be keeping Smokey in my prayers.  It does sound like his time is near, I hope he is able to slip away in his sleep.  He's had a long life with you - and from what I've read about your kids, he's had a good life as well.  I hope mine get to live as long as Smokey has.   Where there's Life, there's Hope Kathy "If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning."
