Hello All, I actually did not seek any support and approval from the administration when I made this site. This was just a product of our training/workshop on Web Technologies sponsored by the Phil Elib, UP and the National Library and I am encouraged to recommend this to the College administration as the official website of our Library because an Interactive and Functional Website is one of the requirements in the AACCUP accreditaton. Since our College until now doesn't have a Website so I opted to present this site during the AACCUP Preliminary Visit to our College last October 6-9, 2009. Fortunately, this is one of our library strengths during the accreditation together with our Follett Integrated Library System (ILS). Actually we have two library sites at present the old one at multiply.com wherein we uploaded there in the links the different addresses of our requested free trials of ONline Databases. I presented this already to our Vice President for the Academic Affairs who is also the chairman of our Library Advisory Council and he appreciated my effort of coming up with this functional site. I told him that on the next LAC meeting I would like to present this site to the group and then ask for corrections, comments and suggestions for improvement then when changes are done ask for their recommendation that this site will be presented in the Academic and Administrative Councils of the College then for BOT approval.
With the limited library budget that we have, collecting only Php40.00 per student/semester with a population of more or less 1,000, we cannot afford to subscribe to a web host provider so I am fortunate enough that I was able to attend the Web Tech Training that the trainer introduced this open source site using google as the provider (http://sites.google.com). When I created the site, I considered uploading relevant information about our library and its resources and services, the very important things our customers need to know about. Please help me improve our library site, your recommendations and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. ________________________________ From: zarah gagatiga <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 9, 2009 7:27:26 Subject: [FilipinoLibrarians] Re: Library website Great efforts! Good luck on your endeavors :-) BUt, I can't help asking of preliminary protocols. Have you sought admin support and approval? Is there tech support (infrastructure and network, trouble shooting, web apps) as well? How many library staff are involved? Any shared policy and guidelines in creating the content of the website? Would be relevant to share if answers to the above questions are addressed. Salamat! On Fri, Oct 9, 2009 at 7:10 AM, Igor Cabbab <[email protected]> wrote: >>BTW.
