I have scanned some negatives using VueScan (mostly black and white thus far) and the
results are far superior to any software I've been using. With the first
few scans (just after turning on the Epson 1200U scanner), there was hardly any
posterization with VueScan. After about an hour after the scanner was turned
on, however, the posterization problem began creeping back - perhaps a failing chip in
the scanner as it heats up. But the VueScan product seems far superior
to the Epson twain and SilverFast with all things being equal with the scanner cold.
