If the scanner could be tricked into scanning once and being read out 16
times with a different LUT each time this might work and be a reasonable
thing to do.  But I doubt that this would be possible or even quicker than
multiscanning.

Standard multiscanning with different LUTs might produce better results than
multiscanning with the same LUT each time.  It depends on the noise in the
scanner, but is probably not worth it for Ed.
