A good problem report will delineate exactly the circumstances under which the user experiences the problem. The less information the user supplies in the problem report, the more likely the problem will be ignored until such time as the programmers have time to futz around trying to figure out what the hell the user was talking about. That is, if they bother to try to figure it out at all. In any problem report, include a description of the steps necessary to reproduce the problem. If you can't do that (i.e., the problem is not completely reproducible), then provide as much information as you can about the circumstances in which the problem is encountered. This is not a programmers vs. users issue. It's just a matter of comminicating clearly enough that the problem the user is experiencing can actually be identified. If it can't be indentified in the first place, it won't be fixed, either. -- David W.
