Very interesting. Extracting parts with this setting on and 'Apply Note
Spacing' does give very good results.

But I'm still wondering about the larger question: How to preserve the
adjusted spacing of selected measures. As a different example, I have one
measure with the text expression 'un poco accel col canto', and the next
measure with 'a tempo'. Since it's important that the expression in the
first measure be contained entirely within that measure, I've expanded the
spacing in that measure in the score to accommodate the expression. But
when I extract parts with 'Apply Note Spacing', these measures all shrink
to their default size, and the text expressions collide.

I guess what would be nice is a setting (or a plugin?) that expands the
spacing in selected measures so that any text expression anchored in that
measure is completely contained by the measure.

Thanks,
Aaron.
