I've never had any problems writing CDs while doing other things, except if I try doing it at top speed for my CD writer (8X). When I do it at half the top speed, it is always successful. The thing with the MP3s is that the data is in there, because if you rewind after the skip, you get the correct performance. But if you start from the beginning and let it play, it tends to skip at certain points (almost all of them about 3/4s of the way through the track, regardless of length).
