For the time being I am going to have to use my hpdeskjet 5550. I tried to find a hub with a serial input for my laser printer, but they didn't have one. Anyway, neither is a postscript printer, so I am kind of up the creek unless someone else can help.

Serial port printers are not really supported in OS X. (Yes, there are serial-to-USB adapters, "stealth" serial ports, etc, but my understanding is they don't really work reliably.) What kind of laser printer do you have? If you can get a network card (i.e., Ethernet) for it, that would probably work.

Otherwise, you should consider getting a new USB laser printer, ideally one that supports PostScript.
