Hello all ‹ long time lurker, first time poster ...

Iıve been using Finale since 3.0.1, and consider myself quite proficient
with it ‹ however, Iıve never really had much use for playback at all, and
so donıt know as much about it as the ³visual² aspects of the program that
Iıve always used a lot more.

Iım now using MacFin2004, and have a document with lots of dynamic changes,
hairpins, articulations etc. attached. What I need to do is have Finale
generate a MIDI file of this piece, but straight ahead, paying no attention
to the markings. Figure set the tempo, set a basic key velocity, and then
just note on/note off based strictly on the note values themselves, nothing
else.

So far, I canıt seem to get this to happen. Iıve turned off Human Playback,
Iıve unchecked anything about recorded velocities and all that, and still it
plays back affected by dynamic markings, and especially affected by
articulations. I realize that playback instructions are now defined as part
of each marking (or, at least, much more so than in previous versions - I
upgraded from Fin2000), but when I placed all the markings in the score, I
didnıt turn off any of the settings because, as I said above, I was thinking
visually. Iıve also checked the online documentation about this, but the
entire chapter on playback (29) is devoted to getting the program to
interpret more of the piece, not less.

So ... is there a way to turn off all possible Finale interpretations of my
score (MIDI tool, perhaps?) in a ³select all² kind of way, or do I have to
go into the definitions for each marking individually and turn things off
that way?

Thanks very much for any help on this.

-- Mike
