Being an experienced jazz copyist, you're just going to have to trust me on this.
first, if the expression is already a shape
It's not.
second, defining the glyph as a Finale shape expression which can be modified allows for the possibility (expecially in a Jazz score) that it might be expedient to have the shape different sizes in different places.
It's not.
She just wants a chord repeat symbol, and that needs to be the same size everywhere. This is a simple problem with a simple solution -- no need to complicate things.
