I'm also not 100% sure the 8500 works with the G5's.
Actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the 8500 won't work with your G5.
ATI makes two version of the Radeon 9800, one for G4s, and one for G5s. This leads me to suspect that the 8x AGP bus in the G5 is not compatible with older 2x and 4x AGP video cards like the Radeon 8500.
Get the Radeon 9200. It's about the same price as the Radeon 8500, you won't have to remove any hardware, and it's guaranteed to work with your G5.
