Yes, I believe Chris's Mac has only USB 1.1.
And if I understood Johannes correctly, Macs don't support add-on cards, so how do you add a USB 2 MIDI interface?
I think you misunderstood Johannes. He was talking about trying to add legacy technology unsupported by OS X, like a serial port. But if your Mac has a free PCI slot, it is easy and inexpensive to add a USB 2.0 card.
