All I know about Berlioz is sociological. It is
the music notation program of choice in France,
because it is home-grown. Most new French
publications use it. By all accounts it is as
good as Finale and Sibelius, but has almost no
currency outside France because all the
instructions, menu items, etc. are in French and
only in French.
Put this down as another example of the French
wanting to go it alone (words like
"logiciel"--for "software"-- are another example
of that...)
