To be clearer, I should add that all my mail with "Finale" or
"Patterson plug-ins" in the subject line gets filtered into my Finale
folder. The spammers cited "[Patterson plug-ins]" in their subject
line, and possibly Finale as well. I no longer have the messages,
sorry. But my logic was that if I am being spammed by a rogue version
of Patterson, the spammer had to get my email from the Finale list
(since I don't subscribe to Patterson's list) and there would be no
other way to associate my email address with Patterson plug-ins. Or
perhaps the spammer hacked into Patterson's database?
Maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion, but after that happened, as
well as the nasty worm I got from a different piece of spam, I decided
to guard my email as best I can. I receive only public mail on this
yahoo account, partly because of Yahoo's good spam filtering, and my
private mail now goes to a separate email address. If no one else has
had a similar experience, that's great for all of us.

Are you sure they were through this list? The reason I ask is that
Robert Patterson has a separate email list on Yahoo Groups that he
operates in support of his Patterson Plug-ins, and a subscriber (or
subscribers) to that list have been posting unsolicited commercial
messages to the list. These come from the list, but not necessarily
from
Robert Patterson, and do not show up in my mailbox as pretending to be
from him.
