In finding the solution to my problem with multimeasure rests  
disappearing when I used a staff style to make them blank, which  
nobody seemed to have a solution for...at least nobody  
replied :).......I discovered that the problem was that the "update  
automatically' in the multimeasure rests section of document options  
needed to be unchecked.  That solved my problem and it may be related  
to this one.
